Thankfully the storm of storms that local newscasters were predicting was going to hit Los Angeles didn’t hit.
It's Week 38 on the weight loss journey for me. I am checking in at 165 this week. I gained three pounds, but it's all good.
Sunday morning Team S.I.S. (Sistahs In Shape), as we’ve been dubbed by member Natalia (I wanted Team Negro but nobody was feeling that), hit the trail bright and early.
One thing I will say is that it was extremely clear today, cold but clear. Cyndi pointed out that we could actually see all the way to the Pacific Ocean, and she was right.
Speaking of Cyndi, she turned 32 today and so after our hiking expedition we headed over to our usual spot on LaBrea and Santa Monica Boulevard for lattes and juice. When Cyndi wasn’t looking we popped a candle in a pumpkin and cream cheese muffin and performed our version of Happy Birthday in the courtyard. Kudos to Cyndi for getting up on a Sunday when it’s her birthday and bringing her 12 year-old daughter and her daughter’s friend hiking.
Because it’s Hollywood baby, you never know who’ll see you hiking in Runyon Canyon. Last week it was one of our favorite Black news anchors from ABC’s Channel 7 Marc Brown.
This week we had a double sighting.
Ladies, yes, I am a lesbian and proud of it, but that doesn’t mean I don’t admire beauty when I see it and let me tell you I saw it in the flesh today.
I could hardly believe it when he walked past me, I had to do a double take. I was like damn! And just to make sure I wasn’t trippin’ I asked the rest of the group if they saw him and Veronica was the only other one that noticed him. I knew I wasn't trippin, lol.
I don’t watch soaps anymore these days, as a matter of fact it’s been years. But that doesn’t mean much, in soap opera land you could miss a year of episodes and jump right back into the thick of it. Needless to say, I remember Sonny, lol.
Our second sighting comes courtesy of MADtv and kudos to Natalia for spotting him. Funny man Michael McDonald the actor who plays the character of Stuart Larkin, arguably the most recognized character from MADtv was hiking today. Staurt's character is a hyperactive little boy who is almost always accompanied by his borderline alcoholic mother, Doreen (Mo Collins), who scolds him for his various acts of childhood mischief. Very funny. Check the Youtube.com clips.
Well, we’ll be right back at it next Sunday. If you want to come out with us, visit my calendar to get all of the details. Cheers!
