This is a book that I must get and read soon. I was so alarmed recently when the Washington Post reported stats on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the District...reports of course showed that the most new cases of infection to be in the African American community, particularly in the 40-49 age group of Women. It is truly heartbreaking and hopefully we as adults will take responsibility for our own sexual health.

On this World aids Day I think it's fitting that those of us who believe that we will survive this scourge not write hiv/aids in caps but to always write it in lower caps and all should repeat ten times"We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy,We shall defeat the enemy. PEACE AND PROTECT OUR FUTURE !!!

Thank you Brother Gil for your excellent reminder and food for thought. The fact is, for African Americans and for Africans in general, the nightmare started with the Middle Passage. The AIDS/HIV crisis in our community, both in the US and on the continent is just another indication of our subjugation as a people, constantly bombarded with our needs ignored usually for the enhancement and preservation of the wealth of others.
