Queen Latifah: Is She or Isn't She?

PerezHilton.com recently reported that our favorite hot mama Queen Latifah recently took her longtime “friend” Jeanette Jenkins as her date to the New York City premiere of Hairspray.

And he says:

This interaction between Jeanette and a reporter was priceless.

Latifah’s longtime personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins was by the actress’ side - on hand for any last-minute workouts, we presume. Asked if she has a boyfriend, Jenkins stammered, “I’m in a relationship. I have been for a long time,” before beating a hasty retreat down the red carpet past “Hairspray” stars John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken and Nikki Blonsky.

I’m not really sure what the deal is with Latifah.  If people love her for her, meaning her acting and singing skills, is that really going to go away if she just came out?  It might win her even more fans if you ask me. 

However Latifah, we’ll wait for you to come around, I just hope we don’t have to wait much longer because if you ask me, it’s not really that much of a secret.

I mean did any of you really by that interview she did with Access Hollywood where she said she’s looking for a good brotha and could she get the hook up or the Essence Magazine interview where she talked about leading in Hollywood and marriage proposals?

And this isn’t a slight on Latifah, I like her.  Really I do.  But I can’t overlook the obvious especially when there are so few out Black lesbians in the entertainment industry and so many young Black lesbian women who are in need of positive role models.

Danielle, its well documented Queen Latifah is gay. Its an open secret. The thing that people pick on is NOT what Queen says but what she DOESN'T SAY. And yes people are smart enough to discern that Queen is gay.
Its not just that Queen is NOT seen with a man its the fact that in the press she is NEVER asked about her personal life. Everyone knows the connection people have to the stars is in relation to her personal life. Its well known the closeted GAY STARS in Hollywood are NEVER asked about their personal life. Its the same thing with Jodie Foster. Everyone knows she's gay she has a wife, and two kids. People see them all over NYC, LA, yet in the press Jodie NEVER talks about her personal life. Just because a star doesn't talk about their personal life DOESN'T MEAN the star ISN'T GAY.

I don't see what the deal is with stereotyping a woman and saying they are a lesbian just because they aren't advertising all the males they are sleeping with. We don't know what that woman is into sexually or how many men she sleeps with. There are such things as butch straight women (my twin) and ultra fem lesbians(me), besides the last time I checked, it's not who you aren't sleeping with that makes you gay. So saying you haven't seen her with a man is no excuse to automatically say she's gay. And to the person who brought up the movie scene in Set it off, Latifah has actually had a lot more kissing scenes with men and only one with a woman. Until we actually see her kissing a woman, I say she deserve the benefit of doubt. I'm just not with unfairly labeling someone something without proof.

Queen Latifah is SMART. Queen is a BLACK LESBIAN she's not white like Rosie O Donnell or Ellen Degeneres. She's a black lesbian and she has to consider the political, social, and economic consequences for coming out. Its the reason Luther Vandross took his secret to his grave. Everyone knows Queen is gay just like we know Missy Elliott and MC Lyte are lesbians. Its no secret but they choose to be quiet about being gay and I don't blame them. They are black lesbians and they understand the black community is their bread and butter to sell CDs, DVDs, concert tickets, movie tickers, they are not stupid.
