TMZ.com Host to Online Race War Over BET Music Awards Write Up...Beyonce Performance Labeled as "Roboho"
TMZ.com posted the photo above with the quote "Mo'Nique catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror."
Now that's fucked up...but there's more.
TMZ.com was pretty hard on the BET Music Awards and even harder on the women and their fashion.
"From the looks of last night's red carpet, it's obvious why the BET Awards honor the best entertainers in music, film and sports -- but not fashion! BET phone home!
From Beyonce's roboho performance getup to Eve's streetwalker chic, check out why it's time these artists hired new stylists and put the hip back into hip-hop!
On another note, while Robin Thicke didn't scare up any fashion alarms, he also failed to become the first white artist to win a BET Award. The world will just have to wait for Celine Dion's next album to drop!"
After posting their write up, an online race war broke out on their website between whites and Blacks.
After reading the following posts regarding the fashions at last night’s BET Music Awards Show, I’d say some of TMZ’s readers have issues with Blacks and maybe TMZ.com does as well, or at least their writers.
And I quote:
"Black people are idiots Black people can't dress A few of them are hot (ie. Rhianna) Most are not (ie. HIV-infected Bayonce) Black people: understand this: The more you complain about whites hating blacks, the less you will amount to in your lives. Can you honestly find ANY successful black people in the world? I can't. Why? They all complain. The Japanese were slaves too at once point. Want to know why they are some of the richest people in the world? They don't dwell on the past. So listen up you little oil rags: SHUT UP."---JEFF
"YOU "AFRICAN AMERICANS" CAN JUDGE WHITE PEOPLE BUT WE CANNOT EVEN SAY A WORD ABOUT YOU. YOUR REPRESENTING REVERSE RACISM AND THATS PATHETIC. DON'T TALK ABOUT THIS SLAVERY !@?#$ EITHER BECAUSE YOUR MOTHERLAND SOLD YOUR PEOPLE TO US. YOUR IN A FREE COUNTRY THAT WAS FOUNDED BY WHITE PEOPLE...YOUR LUCKY TO BE IN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE YOU COULD BE LIVING BACK IN ETHIOPIA. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE MAJORITY PEOPLE SUCKING THE WELFARE, MEDICAID AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS IN THIS COUNTRY SUCH AS FOOD STAMPS ARE AFRICAN AMERICANS!!! AT LEAST THE WET BACKS THAT COME FROM MEXICO KNOW HOW TO WORK THEIR ASS OF FOR THE FREEDOM THEY'RE STARVING FOR. ALL YOU PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO DO (FOR THE MOST PART) IS BITCH, WHINE, POP OUT KIDS AND SHOOT EACH OTHER. YEA....I PLAYED THE RACISM ROLE, BECAUSE YOUR DOING THE SAME F**KING THING. SO KISS MY WHITE #$!@?" ---WHITEGIRL
I am not feeling TMZ.com right now, nor their racist readers. It's clear to me that the issue of race was introduced with the "...while Robin Thicke didn't scare up any fashion alarms, he also failed to become the first white artist to win a BET Award" line, thus setting the stage for the white power racists to come out of hiding. And refering to Beyonce's performance as "roboho" sends a clear message of the lack of respect TMZ.com's writers have for Black women. So tell me? What's the difference between "nappy headed ho" and "roboho?" Exactly.

So glad you're exposing TMZ as a racially biased gossip site. In the past I visited TMZ occasionally. That is, until I took the time to read the comments section of an article about Kim K. dating Reggie Bush. I could not believe the prejudicial tone - it was a racially explosive atmosphere to say the least. One comment in particular (the worst) really needed to be addressed, so I channeled my inner Assata and shed some light for the readers. Unlike the other comments, my comment was well informed and full of facts. How about it was posted for all of 2 hours and then removed/assassinated. However, the offensive comment that I responded to remained. So yes, TMZ support, uphold and instigate the hate harbored by many of it's readers.

I think that what has been accomplished is that everyone who has read these blogs has logged onto TMZ providing more hits to their website. We as black people or African-Americans should stop jumping defensive at every thing that is said. Beyonce did look like a roboho and Eve did look like a hooker. If we expect not to be talked about that way, then we should stop looking that way.
We have to work harder to get half the respect. That's the way it is.
Stop whining and live our own reality. We're so busy pointing fingers every time someone says something, we're not even thinking about the percentage of us who are making a fool of the rest. Stereotypes are not pulled out of the air and as long as some of us live up to them, people will talk shit. Change it or live with it!

By, please I don't think for one minute you're black, so come off that bs. Whites, love to post anonymous or in disguise to get thier redundant point across. Anybody can lie about what they're really are. Behind their computers.

They're also mad, because BET awards are doing better than the corny ass Mtv music and movie awards.

tmz, is always saying something negative about black people, so I'm not surprised. The Klan members that be running that site. Need their asses whooped good and they hate on beyonce, because beyonce is out doing all those talentless white heffas.

What was the point of this post? All you did was extend the reach and hate speech of a few idiots. This should have been given no energy.

"WOW......amazing."
Posted by: | Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 06:44 AM
There is no difference...it just let's you know how far we have to go as a race. First we have to respect ourselves first. I would put TMZ.com on notice that this type of coverage is disrespectful and will not be tolerated. If Robin Thicke did not win it was because he was not selected but at least he made the catagory. Man Jasmyne, there are new issues everyday and the interesting thing about it seems to keep getting worse on one hand. I guess it is true without friction their is no movement.

"OMG and i was complaining that Moniques opening moves were stolen from my headsprung video!! wow. Just for the record not all Jeff's are punk ass white bitches talkin shit like that!! Some of us are nice Jeffs!:)"

"Girl, TMZ.com has always been like that. Even the owner of the site, Harvey whatever has said that only a certain type of person posts on his site and the way he said it that got most of his posters upset (even though they continue to frequent the site all the way stating they'll never come back) was that the implication was that the people who post on that site are complete idiots.
And I'd have to agree.
I first became aware of the site after the Michael Richards' incident and got all bent out of shape because I actually thought the racist comments of suport on the site was a microcrosm of our society but later found out it's a bunch of young teenage idiots who commune on one site on the internet. They hate everybody, everything, probably even themselves. It's a site about drama."

First of all the reason Robin Thicke did not get a BET Award was because simply it is called the BET Awards which stands for what.....Black Entertainment Television Awards, Wasn't he nominated though! You tell me.... This means that we as a culture realize that he is a great singer very soulful even, but the case is he is white and all black people just happened to be being honored on this day....Come on people.
You guys should be ashamed of of putting race in a situation that is a positive and a most enriching show to watch and HOW FAR AFICAN-AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE COME FROM AND HOW WE GET BETTER YEAR BY YEAR !!!!! And another thing don't knock us for our style simply b/c there is a very different way we express ourselves colorfully.
I can't believe they brought out the part about welfare, b/c it is just as many caucasians and any other race for that matter....Overall this was a slap in the face of African- Americans from a media entity so you know what! I Will Pray Harder To Succeed Using My Heavenly Father...........

Jas,
I think you have to look at the blogoshpere as a whole b4 considering to drop a page all together. True, they did host a racist exchange ,but Fox News, CNN, and Tom Joyner, Rush Limbaugh etc. all have message boards ,and all have at one point or the other have hasd racially charged issues..
Many of the people blogging are trying to create a reaction. Much like with emails from afar, (I know you know about this) they are nothing more then internet tough guys/gals who from the comfort of there home in the middle of no where Utah drop racial epithets to say what they wouldnt say to the person there offending.
You think if White girl saw you in public she'd dare make those comments? Plus someone needs to educate her, the majority of people on welfare are white...Aint no black folk in Utah and North Dakota....
And Jeff, he'd b-tch up the momment one of those so called "oil rags" got up in his face. Trust....

Over at "What About Our Daughters?" I ask why I am not outraged that TMZ called Beyonce' "roboho", but was heated two posts later when they referred to Serena Williams as an " extremely dangerous" robot.
IT is worth exploring why my reactions were so different when I am usually quick to get indignant.

Blk people need to strike back when white people talk like this. It's a huge lie(we were not sold in mass) blk people were forced onto slave ships with chains and tryed to fight to the death. Yes there were some African cheifs that took part in the slave trade, but it wasent at the level white people make it sound.
They want to think we were sold because it makes them sleep better ae night, but they all know the real truth.

Well, I have to agree as an African-American that BET is not a hot bed of fashion. Why do our sisters have to dress in such a tacky and slutty manner. I didn't find TMZ's comments any different than their comments about anyone else....except their strange defense of paris hilton.
The difference between roboho and nappy-headed ho is the difference between dedicated athletes in athletic wear and a girl dressed as a scantily-clad, supposedly sexy robot.
And yes it is true, we can joke all we want about whites and if they say anything about us, they are horrible racists. What's the difference....and yes, our brothers and sisters did sell their own into slavery. It was THE big business in Africa. If they had focused on other means of income instead of working the slavery market to the bone, the continent would possible not be in the dire straits that it is in now.
Does that make me a racist against my own? I think it makes me honest.

White people love to re-write history. You guy's were in the darkages until the 14th centry gying from the plagu. So don't pretend you did blk people a favor, because some of use were here befor white people came to this land.
P.S White people are onlt 10% of the world's population and by looking at their birth rate they wont be here much longer.
