Sheryl Swoopes on Tim Hardaway: "Hardway's Comments Detrimental..."

WNBA star and Black lesbian Sheryl Swoopes has chimed in on the Tim Hardaway fiasco.

Swoopes says that she believes that Hardaway’s comments will force America to re-examine itself and hopefully begin a much needed dialogue on the homophobia that does exist.  She says she’s almost 100 percent sure that there are other people that feel like Hardaway that weren’t stupid enough to come out and openly say it.  The issue isn’t relative to sports only; it’s an issue period in her opinion.

She closes the clip out by asking how do we solve the problem of homophobia in society.

I thought her comments were clear, concise and to the point.  For me being a Black lesbian, it was even that much more powerful coming from her since she is out now and is a professional basketball player.

Hopefully Sheryl can bring some of that wisdom to the African-American community this year as we hopefully kick off this conversation all across Black America.
