Gay & Lesbian: Lesbian Murder in Jamaica
The Jamaica Star is reporting the murder of two young women earlier this week is the result of a "murder of passion," involving the women who were possibly lesbians and one of their ex-boyfriends who may have been unhappy with their relationship.
According to the Star...
The bodies of 20-year-old Candice Williams and Phoebe Myrie, 22, were found dumped in a pit at a home they shared in Taylor Land, Bull Bay, last week Wednesday.
As a result, police are now on the hunt for the father of the one-year-old child of Candice Williams, Dwayne Lewis, who is wanted for questioning in the matter.
Police who were on the scene when the bodies were found, say the evidence found at the scene, suggested that the killer might have been angered by their suspected lesbian relationship.
"From yuh see di lesbian DVD whe di man throw in di pit, yuh know seh di lesbian ting have something to do with the murders ... The assailant bun up mattress an fling weh sheet, so it obvious," said an officer, who was at the scene when the bodies were taken from the pit.
Police confirm that an lesbian DVD case, sheets, and a pillow were found in the pit along with the bodies of the young women. A burnt mattress was also found in the yard of the house.
Although residents of Taylor Land expressed "mixed feelings" toward the alleged lesbian couple, they all concur that they were much more than friends. "Everybody know a two lesbian dem dat. U fi see how one a dem timid like gal, an di oda one guan like man ... The only time dem apart a when di Samantha (Candice) gu check har mother ina di morning," said a resident.
"Mi hear seh a lef one a dem lef her baby fada fi di nex uman, an tek di baby carry guh live," said another resident.

This is very sad.
I am a young guy with same-sex attractions and I live in Trinidad. Trinidad and Tobago is a very religious Caribbean country (like all of the others); but all in all such a thing would not have happened here.
People who believe that homosexual activity is wrong should not advocate murder. I happen to share those beliefs myself, but God would not be pleased at their killers. How many sinners did Jesus kill?

It is a shame that people have to die because of their sexuality. Alot of people do things that others do not agree with, does that mean that we kill all the people that do things that is not in agreeance with the norm. I hope they find the ones that did this and make an example out of them, so the next time someone think about hurting someone because of their sexuality they think of what will happen to them. This world is hard enough to live in, come on people dont make it any worse.

I will give any christian jamacian a 100.00 if they can show me in the bible where Jesus went around and killed people because of their sexual oreintation.Wolves in sheep clothing is what they are.If this is not the biggest case for self hate than what is? SMMFH hiding behind the bible to justify their satanic evils deeds. Sounds like the charateristics of a slave master to me!

OK I apologise for saying that Jesus wasn't lovely. I don't want to hurt or offend anyone. I really don't know Jesus. Enlighten me.....

Lesbian murder is virtually unheard of as is lesbian HIV/AIDS.
It just generally NEVER happens.
My view is that the "ex boyfriend" killed them out of JEALOUSY.
The bible says in leviticus that 2 men who commit homosexuality together MUST be put to death and that their blood shall be upon them. Please take note that it DOES NOT mention lesbians at all in those passages of "holy" scripture.
A true Jesus loving Christian would hate gay men.
Please for god's sake don't start preaching about how "lovely" Jesus was - He wasn't.
god bless and what ever

from what perspective does a person look at homosexuality? from a religious(biblical) point of view or from a human rights point of view. Personally us jamaicans have had our fair share of murdering people for whatever reasons, despite all the killings and what not in our country though,we have the most churches per square mile than any other, which is the cause of the Bible impacting so much on our lives and the teachings of Christ. At the moment i reside in England were the MAJORITY of the population are not as religious or biblical as we are and for that reason anything goes as long as you are not breaking their laws or infringing on anybody's human rights then what the heck have a gay relationship if you want and invite your friend over and lets make it an orgy. some of these people arent even gay but exercise the freedom of doing what they like in countries that are not as bible orientated as ours.
The point is homosexuality for me is repulsive because of my culture and background has made me like this and i justify my beliefs from a biblical perspective and just the fact that it is without a doubt an unatural thing to do. Being gay should not mean indulging it but look at it as a handicap, some people are blind some are deaf. Having to suppress homosexual urges is not the worst thing that can happen to anyone

I always find it interesting how easily black people kill each other over something as insignificant as two grown people of the same sex in a relationship, yet, we can never muster the strength to fight white people for killing us, locking up our children, stealing our culture, lowering the status of our women, destroying our children and our self worth... I'm just saying... The global world is trying everything in their power to put black people worldwide on the "Native American" plan and you have negroes killing each other over ideals about relationships that came from our oppressors and validating it with religions that came from our oppressors.
Makes us look dumb as a box of rocks it does...

If people are going around distorting the Christ's teachings and denying the truth of God's unconditional love for His Gay children, yes, that makes me angry! And yes, I take it very personally. That's not just "anything." It's a life-or-death issue. Nothing could be more important. As long as Lesbians and Gay men continue to be vilified, beaten and murdered in God's name, it will be a subject well worth arguing about.

You are an angry and hurt person and just want to argue about anything. Deal with the personal issues and hurt first.

Al Gore may or may not be a hater. He needs to answer for his questionable actions vis-a-vis Fred Phelps and should be given the chance to repudiate his past anti-Gay statements (circa 1984). I'm not biased one way or the other. I'm not a Democrat and would have no trouble at all denouncing him as a bigot if it came to that.
So homophobia is a "human problem," eh? Why shouldn't false Christianity and its negative influence be criticized? What's wrong with calling evil what it is? I don't understand this burning need to defend something that's indefensible. In the southern United States, you can find plenty of individuals who call themselves Christian and will say without hesitation that Gay people should be killed. I've heard it with my own ears. Believe me, there are plenty of "Christians" around who sympathize with Fred Phelps and his tactics. They just don't have the gall to do what he does. People who follow the true teachings of Jesus Christ have got to stop making excuses for the ones who pervert His teachings! They are allowing themselves to be used by Satan to spread confusion. It's mixing manna with excrement, and that, unlike being homosexual, is an abomination to God.

Homophobia exist in all parts of the world. However, Jamaica tends to have the open support of the police and political figures. I recall a number of years ago when a man discovered his son was gay and went to his son's school, threw the gay magazine at him, and let the classmates attack him. The teachers intervened and were also attacked. When the police came they were not bothered by the incident and sent the boy home and NO CHARGES WERE FILED against anyone. I still wonder what happened to the young man. It is so sad that Black people would go to such lengths to kill someone yet commit numerous 'sins' themselves and feel they won't have to explain their behavior to the maker too!! I was raised Christian, but no longer subscribe to the religion. I know there are Christians in Jamaica who are just as horrified by this crime as we are, so I will not lump them all together. The issue is people of all faiths in Jamaica should speak out against the murders of gay and lesbians from the hands of religous zealots and just plain idiots

It's not a christian problem......it's a Human problem. That's why you see people like those reggae artists and others promoting the killing of gays. The only so-called "christian" group that I've heard of that says gays should die is that crazy Rev. Phelps and his bunch. But his group has been denounced by just about every christian denomination (yes....the "bible thumping ones")and deemed a "cult". Plus, Phelps is a big supporter of the democratic party (supported Al Gore's presidential campaign). Gore had him at the white house as a guest because of his contributions. Does that make democrats evil and gay bashers because he identifies with their political ideology and embraces them?
It's a human problem.....

okay
1. I have been to Jamaica on numerous occassions and I have meny jamaican friends and I live in another caribbean island so i know of what i spak. Jamaica is a tough place for gays. Period! My friensd do gerat job of living there but it is not easy.
2. For a christian society one would think that more time and energy would be spent in decreasing the murder rate, decreasing hate and improving human rights for all instead of victimising gays , instaed of criticising others for higlighting the fact that gays are treated horribly in jamaica.
3.There are many Jamaican immigrants to the USA , the UK and other places . Why if it is so great there do they leave? I know many gay jamaicans that have emigtaed because of fearing for their lives.
4.You can't have it both ways. beanie man and TOK want exposure to international audiences, they leave jamaica to do so. therefore they must expect to live by the laws and expectations of the places they go to. Period!
